The FT World Desk Fellowship at Financial Times.
A paid six-month fellowship on the Financial Times' World News Desk in London, designed for Black candidates to address under-representation in the media, reporting to Foreign Editor Alec Russell.
The fellow helps the desk of about a dozen journalists commission and edit global coverage, supports the regional editors for Africa, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East, helps overseas correspondents with research, data and visual elements, and writes their own stories with mentoring from senior editors; there may be short stints on other desks.
Training covers clear writing, reporting sensitive stories and digital storytelling.
Looking for a strong interest in international affairs, a wish to build a career in global news, calm under deadline pressure and a commitment to accurate, objective writing.
Some journalism experience preferred but not essential; career changers welcome.
UK right to work required.
Apply with a CV, cover letter and an unpublished article (max 600 words) on an international story; no AI use allowed.
Shortlisted candidates have an interview and a short writing test.
Closes 8pm, Sunday 15 November 2026.
