The Maisie Hylton Sub-Editing Fellowship at Financial Times.
A paid six-month sub-editing fellowship in the Financial Times' London newsroom, open exclusively to Black candidates.
Degrees are not required and career changers are welcome.
The fellow works across the newspaper and digital publishing desks: sense-checking and editing articles for accuracy and clarity, sub-editing print pieces for different editions (cutting to length, writing headlines, standfirsts and captions), helping lay out and sign off pages, and revising FT.com content with digital headlines and visual elements, often to tight deadlines.
Looking for an interest in current affairs and financial news, strong accuracy and grammar, a feel for engaging headlines in print and online, and calm under deadline pressure.
The fellow also joins a Creative Access programme with induction training, monthly masterclasses, wellbeing support and mentoring.
Applications are managed by Creative Access (do not contact the FT directly): upload your CV and a tailored cover letter as one document.
Shortlisted candidates have an interview and a short sub-editing test.
