Good questions.
Who we are.
What is Bloomsbury Pulse?
A student-run job board and newsletter for entry-level creative jobs across the UK. Every role is picked by hand. We cover design, fashion, publishing, media, architecture, film and photography, museums and the arts, marketing, beauty and music.
Who runs it?
A small student team based in Bloomsbury, started by Ayala in 2025. You can read more on the About page.
Is it free to use?
Yes. The job board on this site is free and always will be. There's also an optional paid tier on Substack (£5 a month) that sends you a weekly email with every opportunity we post.
How do you keep the lights on?
The site costs around £50 a month to run. That's covered by paid subscribers, employers who pay to promote a role, the job search tracker and kind people who buy us a coffee. Your support helps keep it going.
About the jobs.
Are you affiliated with the jobs you post?
No. We find roles and share them, but we're not the employer or a recruitment agency. You apply to the company directly through their own link, and any questions about a role should go to them.
The only exception is a promoted listing, where an employer has paid for extra visibility. Those are always labelled.
How do you pick the jobs?
By hand. We look for roles that a junior creative could realistically get: internships, graduate schemes, apprenticeships, assistant and trainee roles. There's no algorithm deciding what you see.
Are the jobs paid?
Most are. Every listing tells you whether a role is paid, so you can check before you click through.
Is it only jobs in London?
No. We cover the whole of the UK, including remote and hybrid roles.
A link is broken or a job has closed. What now?
Roles sometimes close early or move. If you spot one, tell us and we'll take it down.
Can you help me with my application?
We can't look over individual applications, sorry. The CV checklist and tips by industry pages are a good place to start, and there are interviews and advice on the Community page.
The newsletter.
What's the difference between free and paid?
Free subscribers get advice, interviews and features whenever we publish. Paid subscribers (£5 a month) get all of that plus a weekly email with every opportunity we've posted.
How do I subscribe, or unsubscribe?
Sign up on Substack or with the form at the bottom of this page. Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and you can cancel a paid plan from your Substack settings whenever you like.
How often will you email me?
Once a week for the jobs email. Free posts go out whenever we publish something worth reading.
Working with us.
Can I work for Bloomsbury Pulse?
We'd love to have you. We're a student project running on a shoestring, so we're not in a position to offer paid roles right now. Most help comes in on a voluntary basis, and now and then we have ad hoc projects too.
Whenever something comes up, we post it on Instagram first, so follow us there to catch it.
How can I put a job on the board?
Send us a message. Everything you need, including prices and what we need from you, is on the Hire with us page.
Can I write for you?
Yes, pitches are welcome. Message Elena, our features editor, on Substack.
Can I get my work featured?
We showcase the community's work on the Community page and across our socials. Send it in through the submission form. We review submissions every month.
How can I contact you?
Use the form on our Contact page, or DM us on Instagram or LinkedIn. We're a small team, so give us a few days to reply.
